What this one is for

A timer that beeps every minute is the backbone of EMOM training: every minute on the minute you start the next set, and whatever is left of the minute is your rest. Five kettlebell swings takes twenty seconds, so you get forty off. Ten burpees takes fifty, so you get ten, and you learn that quickly.

It is just as useful away from the gym. Minute markers are how people pace a language drill, a set of exam questions, a plank ladder, or a set of stairs. Anything where you want to know the pace without doing arithmetic against a clock face.

Rest is 0 here so the minute is one unbroken block rather than work-then-rest. Rounds sets the length: 20 rounds is 20 minutes, and you can put it anywhere from 1 to a full hour in the settings. If you would rather think in total minutes, the EMOM timer takes the length directly.

Good for

  • EMOM sets: start the work when it beeps
  • Pacing question sets or drills in a study block
  • Plank or hold ladders that change every minute
  • Any repeating task where a minute is the natural unit

How it runs

Beep every 1 min for 20 min. Press Start, or hit Space. The digits turn green while a work block runs and grey on rest.

Sound is on by default: a rising pair for work, a falling pair for rest, a tick for the last three seconds and a three-note finish. Mute with the speaker button. The screen stays on while the timer runs and the tab title shows the time left.

Change anything in Settings under the timer. The last setup you used on this page is remembered in your browser.

Questions people ask

How is this different from the EMOM timer?
It is the same schedule described from the other end. Here you set how many minute blocks you want; on the EMOM page you set a total length in minutes and it does the division. Pick whichever field you would rather type in.
What happens if my set runs past the minute?
The timer beeps anyway and the next minute starts. That is the point of the format: it tells you honestly that the work no longer fits, which is your cue to drop the reps.
Does it keep time if I switch apps?
Yes, the timing is timestamp-based, so it is correct when you return rather than behind by however long you were away. The beeps need the tab open and in front to sound, and the screen wake lock only holds while the page is the one on screen.
Is there a get-ready countdown?
Not on this preset, because a minute marker usually needs to line up with something. Add one by setting Get ready to 10 in the settings if you want a moment to put the phone down.
